We haven’t by any means completed our work on this, but today we are formally unveiling the core line-up for our annual flagship conference on Data Center Efficiency and Green Enterprise IT. Please look out for more because this event is taking on a life of its own.
In the list below, you will see many well-known names in the IT and data center industry. But please also take a look at what they are talking about – there’s a lot of new thinking and new research being presented here, especially in the area of cloud, eco-economics, availability vs. energy efficiency, and legislation.
As Program Director, I’m still looking for one or two speakers to add to the line up, but our focus now is increase CIO-level participation, add a bit more “wow” factor to the proceedings, and increase the amount of interaction. Even so, I doubt any other conference in recent years has had all these influential and often inspirational people in one place.
- Lauralee Martin, the CFO and COO of Jones Lang LaSalle: The Greening of IT – Closing the Communication Gap Between the CIO and CFO.
- Jon Koomey, Consulting Professor at Stanford University and Project Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory: new research on the economics of cloud computing and enterprise data centers.
- Neil Rasmussen, Chief Innovation Officer and Co-Founder of APC: how to measure and allocate carbon emissions from data centers.
- Mark Bramfitt, Consultant and recently Principal Program Manager at PG&E: Understanding the Carbon Content of Power.
- Ken Brill, Founder of the Uptime Institute: surprising new findings relating to power use in the data center.
- Dr. Albert Esser, CEO of Econdius and former VP of Power and Infrastructure Solutions at Dell: the end of Green IT and the emergence of Green Efficiency in IT.
- Dean Nelson, eminent data center engineer and Senior Director of Global Data Strategy, Architecture and Operations at eBay, will unveil details of a highly efficient new eBay data center.
- Chris Page, Director of Climate and Energy Strategy for Yahoo!: Yahoo!’s approach to “Advanced Sustainability,” a 360-degree strategy that involves change management programs as well as technical investment.
- Dr. Werner Vogels, VP and CTO of Amazon: architectures to support the volatile demands of cloud computing services.
- Pitt Turner, Executive Director of the Uptime Institute, and Uptime Professional Services Vice President Rick Schuknecht: fresh research insights on data center mission vs. availability.
- Lex Coors, Director of Engineering at Interxion: research relating to the availability and energy efficiency of modular computing designs.
- Mike Manos, now of Nokia, and recently VP at Digital Realty and general manager at Microsoft Data Center Services: environmental legislation and how it affects data center operators.
- Rob Bernard, Microsoft VP for Environmental Strategy: enterprise wide environmental programs.
- Paolo Bertoldi, Manager of European Union’s data center Code of Conduct program: European data center code of conduct and possible legislation.
- Allyson Klein, Director of Leadership Marketing – Server Platform Group, Intel: the future power direction of chip and server technology and how this might affect the way data centers are designed and operated.
In addition, there will also be a very significant addition to the program this year: At least 10 key 451 Group analysts, Tier 1 analysts and Uptime senior engineering experts will be available to delegates for bookable one to one sessions. More on this in a future post, but they will include Uptime founder Ken Brill; Executive Director and Tier system developer Pitt Turner; hot aisle/cold aisle innovator Dr. Bob Sullivan; Tier 1 Director Antonio Piraino; 451 cloud and virtualization expert Rachel Chalmers; and, from the Eco-Efficient IT team, myself (Andy Lawrence) and John Stanley.
